Social Networks

Having looked around social networking sites I believe they would be useful as a marketing tool for the library in general and also as a promotional device for special events and activities such as school holiday activites, friends of the library events and any other special events. Keeping information up to date is always difficult. Social networks could alleviate some of this difficulty.

Online applications

I found this simple to use, and an application that many borrowers would be able to use aswell. It is something I will keep in mind to recommend to borrowers as we have limited computers with word processing applications and this would be able to assist some users with their requirements.

I love jigsaw puzzles and books, so being able to combine the two is great fun. I can see many uses for this in the library for displays and promotional purposes.

Podcast

Podcast would be a useful tool in demonstrating to the public how to navigate the library catalogue and the web site. To show how to access and search the data bases available. It would also be a useful training tool for library staff.

Del.icio.us

Del.icio.us is a great tool for use in the library as it helps keep useful items in one spot. It is a tool that I will continue to use after this course has been completed.

YouTube

YouTube can be a lot of fun, and has many different uses, it can be used for a good laugh, or as a promotional device promoting library services or events.

RSS Feeds

I have found this extremely useful with my studies as a great deal of the information that I need has come to me and saved me a lot of reseach time. There is still plenty of work for me to do, but any help is always welcome. A very useful tool and one that I will promote to both friends and library users.
